Meet Tony Stephenson.
Tony Stephenson is a South Carolina native, U.S. Navy veteran, AI governance professional, and educator focused on helping South Carolina organizations adopt AI securely and responsibly.
His experience spans enterprise AI adoption, cybersecurity, technology risk, and governance, including evaluating AI use cases, assessing risk, and helping establish the processes organizations need to move AI from experimentation toward responsible use.
Tony holds an MBA and is pursuing a Ph.D. focused on Artificial Intelligence, where his research examines AI governance and cybersecurity risk. He also teaches cybersecurity at the college level, combining practical experience with research and education.
After eight years of service in the U.S. Navy and a career working with complex organizations, Tony founded the Stephenson Institute for Cybersecurity & AI to bring that experience home.
His mission is simple: help South Carolina businesses capture the economic opportunity of AI without compromising security, trust, or responsible governance.
